Regulations in force as of July 1, 2022: The absence of retro-reflective stickers on motorcycle helmets results in the non-homologation of the helmet. In other words, without these devices, you risk a fourth-class fine, i.e., a fixed penalty of 135 euros (reduced to 90 euros, increased to 375 euros) and a deduction of 3 points from your driving license.
Although law enforcement rarely issues tickets for the absence of reflective stickers, a change in road safety guidelines can always occur. Not affixing these stickers means taking the risk of unnecessarily losing three points in the event of a check.
